Preserve Planet Earth Campaign

This is a joint interact project organized by the District Interact Council of District 3292. We cleared the long walkway starting from Sinamangal up to the airport. It was infested by different kinds of weeds and bushes. Several NGOs was responsible for the protection of this land but was neglected resulting in the degradation of its aesthetic qualities and cleanliness. Many interact clubs were called upon for this task. Among them we were one of the most active and enthusiastic club that participated. The Interact District Council supported in this activity.
Every Saturday or Sunday, we came together to trim and clear out the bushes from the area for three to four hours. Initially, we weren’t too willing, but once we saw the transformation that our work could bring, it brought a sense of achievement and fueled our motivation. We believe this project is progressing very well. This will surely benefit the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 as the pathway will be one of the first things the tourists will see during their arrival to Nepal. This will also benefit the people who come here for morning exercises (morning walks, jogging, etc).

Fund Raising Programme

The fund raising programme was organized during the World Interact week on 6th November 2010. Our club thought it essential to have a fund raising programme because of which certain amount can be spent for community service. So, 19 members of our club went from house to house and later to Rotarians houses to collect fund. Actually, on this particular day, we had a national festival called Tihar which ranges for 5 days and on the 4th day children go from house to house playing traditional songs called Deusi and we did the same. The total amount collected was Rs. 7500 from where Rs. 2000 was spent for a disabled centre where Mufflers were distributed during the cold. The remaining was kept as club fund. Along with the traditional songs, we also performed music and dance which entertained a lot of people. We were benefitted from this project since we received recognition from our society. Also, the Disabled centre was later benefitted from this project. This project was a huge success since we collected significant amount of money and served the community.
